Hi Mom: Send Money Anytime!

Growing up, school was something that was prioritized in my family. My brothers and I grew up going to private school for our entire childhood, and it was expected of us to attend college or, for my oldest brother, fire academy. Me being stubborn coming out of high school, I was nowhere near excited to go to college because Cathedral was already a high school long migraine. It was awful. I hated it. I could write an essay about how much i disliked that high school, but thats not what this blog is supposed to be about... Every day I was told "this prepares you for college.." if that was how college was going to be---no thanks! but, i went anyways, and i learned pretty fast that cathedral was actually 10x harder than SDSU, and now I actually REALLY love san diego state, and school.
I guess my transition into the university was a little smoother than the average student, since I saw college more "laid back" than my dictator-style high school prison.
One of the benefits my family provides me with is how much they value a healthy lifestyle and a quality education. My family pays me to go to school. My main job in life is to  focus on my academics and sports. If I stay in school, i don't need to work or have a job. school and being in a sport are my jobs. My family believes that I have an entire life ahead of me to make money, so right now my only job is to earn degrees/get good grades, stay healthy and in shape, and that right there is what puts money in my bank account.
I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity my family provides me with, for I have a lot of friends who are constantly stressed out balancing their work and school schedule, trying to get by. It's not fair to students who want to succeed and want to become successful but have to worry about financial issues. Based on "why Poor Students Struggle," every student is "poor" if they are fresh out of high school, living away from home for the first time, trying to get an education with no financial support. College is so expensive, and from my understanding, financial aid helps you with the bare minimum, with maybe enough to buy a slurpee from 711 at the end of the week. Students should be rewarded to want to attend college and earn degrees, not punished to go to school with the unavailability to work. I guess that's how the real world is though, nothing is fair at the end of the day
